Winter Swim: An Average Practice November 20, 2009

Winter Swim is very different, because there is a different coach. Unlike my old one, he prefers long sets. Of course, since my old coach didn’t like long sets, I am really bad at them. Luckily my new coach, Brian, said we were going to go easy to get back in shape, for the first week or so. Little did I realize what “easy” is now.

What did we do? Good question. It is fading in my memory because it was so hard.

We had a long warm up, then a 500 easy kick. Next we swam freestyle for a while, doing a 50 on the minute, 100 on the 2:00, 200 on the 4:00, 300 on the 6:00, and so on, all the way to 500 on the 10:00. It was all progressive, or build up, which was not that amazing, but luckily it was a long interval, with plenty of rest.

The next set was not so easy. 75s on the 1:45. In IM order. the easiest one for me was free fly back. The one without breaststroke. Ew. I hate breaststroke.
